When considering international travel always take into consideration all major factors that may just ruin your trip. Weather is definitely a make or break for any trip, if it is blisteringly hot or freezing cold you are not going to have a good time. If your destination is known to have massive weather events during a specific time of the year then don’t risk it. Are you travelling to your destination during the holidays or off peak season? What are you wanting to get out of your trip?
Holiday season
Choosing whether to go travelling in the holiday season is hard. Either you can skip the queues and run the risk of having less of the attractions you want to go to open or be stuck in lines for hours but get a wide range of activities to do. During off peak season there are fewer people around but a lot of attractions tend to be closed for renovations. Holiday seasons mean that lots of things are open and have lots of options for you to decide on as well as have facilities like shuttle buses, guided tours and extended opening hours. But along with that, you will have to deal with long lines and a lot of waiting. It is down to the research and booking that you plan ahead of time to how your travel experience will end up.
Seasonal weather events
Whether it is blizzards, hurricanes or typhoons there is normally a time of the year where these events are more likely, try to choose months outside of the likely seasons. There’s no guarantee sometimes unseasonal events occur but at least you reduce the risk your plans being setback.
Weather
Weather can also influence the type of holiday so check the average temperature, rainfall, snow for the time of the year you are travelling. It’s not much fun sightseeing when it’s pouring rain or very hot. Also to consider is the impacts of weather on the attractions you want to see, if you want to see waterfalls don’t go at the end of summer season, they might all be dry. If trekking or hiking is your thing, then tropical thunderstorms or snowstorms may limit your activities.
Public Holidays or Festivals
Festivals and events are a great time to travel to many places, often the festivals are when you get to enjoy the culture of the region or country you are visiting. Always prepare by booking well in advance, during festivals, the services are not only being used by travellers but also by locals, so everything gets booked up fast. Watch for public holidays, many places close down all the shops, or reduce travel options on these days, even in areas with high tourist numbers.
